Wood Material Functionality

The famous 360’s wood material functionality is now featured with the new 3ds max version for 2019. This addition will give artists the ability to make fully customizable wood textures. As a user, you can choose from the following presets; maple, cherry, oak, pine, mahogany or walnut. From there, you can also alter parameters such as a bump, roughness or finish.


Splines Boolean Operations


Operations like the Boolean operation for splines can now be performed on more than one open or close-ended shapes. This operation includes dynamic chamfer and/or fillets necessary for the free movements at corners. There is also a newly added quad capping mode which can be used to cap renderable spline-based geometries.


Ability to Edit VR Scenes

It is now possible to edit your scene layouts directly within virtual reality. And all edits can be pushed back simultaneously to 3ds Max.


Managing Project and Pipeline Feature

Now, it is very much more comfortable to manage projects, pipelines as well as efficiently collaborate with other users working on the same project.


Changes that have facilitated this easy management includes;


  • An updated project tools set which provides control for folder structures.
  • The ability to attach string-based metadata to any scene file without the stress of loading it into the software.
  • Sharing Alembic data between 3ds Max and another 3D software has become even easier. This version now supports UVs, material IDs, layer names, and vertex colors.
  • You can now share assets directly from the user interface to the Autodesk viewer online.
